Dose:
Tincture, Infusion, Salve

Tincture 5mls, 2 to 4 times daily.
Infusion up to 3 times daily.
Salve apply as required.
GEM Tincture 1:5 (g/ml) 5 to 10mls.
Infusion 1-2g dried flowers in 150ml water.
AC Tincture 3 - 5mls in water, 3 times daily.
Infusion 1 cup, 3 times daily.
Ointment apply up to 3 times daily.

Contraindications

1) Do not use this herb in early pregnancy due to its emmenagogue and arbortifacient effects.
2) Do not combine this herb with hexobarbital as the saponoside components of this herb are known to increase sleeping time. (results of research in rats, cats and guinea pigs).
3) Avoid use of this herb with Glaucoma as it may increase pressure within the eye.
4) It has been suggested that this herb may alter the structure of cell membranes in the body, leading to hemolysis (destruction of red blood cells) with subsequent harmful effects.
5) There have been no adverse effects within Western medical literature, however the Russian Federation reported one case of anaphylactic shock when gargling with this herb. Any reaction is more likely where there has been a previous allergic reaction to herbal preparations.
