Active Constituents
Volatile oil including proazulenes, farnesine, alpha-bisabolol, spiroether.
Flavonoids, including anthemidin, luteolin, rutin
Bitter glycosides including anthemic acid.
Coumarins
Tannins
Medicinal Use:
Anti-inflammatory
Antispasmodic
Relaxant
Carminative
Mild bitter
Anti-allergenic
Dose:
Tincture, infusion

S.F. Tincture 2.5mls 3 to 4 times daily.
Infusion 1 cup 3 to 4 times daily, (infuse for 3 minutes only and use 0.5 amount of standard infusion)
GEM - Tincture 1:1 (g/ml) 3ml 3 to 4 times daily.
Infusion 3g in 150mls water 3 to 4 times daily.
A.C. Tincture 5mls in 100ml water 3 times daily.
Infusion 4 teaspoon of dried herb in 500mls water, use in bath for fractious children, drink cup at night to aid sleep.
ESCOP Tincture - 1 to 4ml as single dose
Infusion - 3g to 150mml water

Contraindications

1) The whole plant (NOT THE FLOWERS) should be avoided during early pregnancy due to its emmenagogue effects.
2) Infusions of the flowers may cause irritation when used as a eyewash.
3) There have been rare cases reported of allergic hypersensitivity to the flowers.
4) Sensitive individuals may display rhinitis symptoms.
5) There have been rare cases of Anaphylactic shock with the use of this herb and therefore caution should be shown when using this herb for the first time, especially with infants and children.
