Medicinal Use:
Diuretic
Urinary tonic/antiseptic
Anti-tumour
Enhances labour, 2 weeks prior to due date as infusion.
Dose:
Tincture, infusion
F Tincture 0.25 teaspoon (10 drops,) 2 times daily. for 10 days.
10 berries daily for 10 days.
Infusion 1 cup daily for 10 days. GEM 2-10g per day of whole crushed or powdered fruit.
Infusion 2-3g in 150mls water.
Contraindications
1) Do not use this herb in large doses or regularly where there is kidney inflammation/infection, due to the presence of volatile oils including pinene.
2) Do not use this herb during pregnancy due to the emmenagogue and arbortifacient effects of the volatile oils.
3) Do not use this herb for longer than 4 weeks at a time due to the potential for renal damage.
4) Do not combine this herb with diuretic medication as it may potentiate the effects of these drugs and leading to cardiovascular side effects.
