Dose:
Tincture, infusion, syrup

F Tincture 2½mls to 10mls, 2 times daily.
Infusion 2 cups daily.
Essential oil for external use only in base carrier.
DO NOT INGEST THE ESSENTIAL OIL OF FENNEL
DH
Tincture 2 to 4mls 3 times daily.

Infusion 1 to 2 teaspoons crushed seed to cup water 3 times daily before meals.

Contraindications

1) Do not use during pregnancy due to this herb's emmenagogue effect, especially the essential oil.
2) Do not use the essential oil for infants and children, as this is potentially toxic.
3) The essential oil of this herb is toxic in large doses and even as little as 1ml internally has caused poisoning. Symptoms include gastro-intestinal irritation, vomiting and diarrhoea, seizures and pulmonary oedema, hallucinations and respiratory disorders.
4) The herb and oil of this herb may cause allergic reactions causing dermatitis or lung reactions.
