5 Day Colon Cleanse - A Diary

  • I took one Barberry Capsule the evening before I started, as I was really concerned about bowel not moving with the Clay & Linseed powder the next day.

Day 1

  • Took 5 Clay & Linseed throughout day and lots of water and Chamomile, Nettle, Cleanse and Balance tea. Then 4 Barberry Capsules in evening after meal of liver and bacon! (I would not do the liver and bacon bit again!)
  • Bowel moved morning, after lunch and after tea on day 1.

Day 2

  • Feeling achy and tired today.
  • No bowel movement on getting up in the morning and just felt solid and blocked so took 1 Barberry and 1 Chamomile & Cascara after breakfast – as really panicky I’d get blocked up.
  • Bowel moved around 10am – so now feeling happier that they work (although I realised this was from the previous evenings Barberry Capsules.)
  • Took 12 Clay and Linseed throughout the day.
  • Drank mostly water and nettle, chamomile tea. Also Superfood in Apple and Mango in morning, rice and lots of vegetables at lunch, salmon and chips and vegetables in the evening.
  • Took 6 Barberry Capsules and 2 Chamomile & Cascara capsules.

Day 3

  • Bowel movement on getting up this morning – much more normal than yesterday and am feeling more easy.
  • Took 1 Barberry and 1 Chamomile & Cascara at breakfast and had another bowel movement after breakfast.
  • Belly feels more normal today.
  • Took 17 Clay & Linseed capsules throughout the day and 6 Barberry and 3 Chamomile & Cascara capsules in the evening; ate only rice, vegetables, ryvita, Superfood etc. no meat. Loads of water – tried to make sure I drank a mug of water or herbal tea for each Clay & Linseed capsule.
  • Took the Clay & Linseed capsules in twos and marked them off on a piece of paper stuck inside the cupboard door. No cravings for chocolate or sweet stuff all day today, or any day since, (so far!)

Day 4 & 5

  • Herbs, diet and effect more or less the same as day 3. Feeling like I know how to do this now. Feeling very good, more energised, just my body feeling good, easier.
  • I had expected to see more ‘stuff’ in stools but definitely felt like I had done a cleanse anyway.
  • During the night of day 5 and7 I had a bit of soreness in my throat – took one dose of Echinacea & Thyme.
  • Over all the days have made sure I rested and had some gentle exercise (walking and a bit of housework).
  • First time I felt achy again after this was after I ate meat again.

Summary

If I had felt less concerned about taking too many Barberry and especially Chamomile & Cascara capsules, I would have definitely have taken more on day 1 and feel I would not have been so achy or had such a blocked feeling.

When I do the colon cleanse again, I will stick to lots of rice, vegetables, garlic, etc. and take SuperFood. No bread or dairy (which I didn’t have this time either), and no meat or fish, and drink lots of water and herbal teas.

I would still choose to do it when I have time at home.

I’d take the full 17 Clay & Linseed from day 1 but this is only because I now know that my bowel can handle it. This time though I would take 1 Barberry and 1 Chamomile & Cascara in the morning, and the full 6 Barberry and 3 Chamomile & Cascara in the evening on day 1 and each day following, to be sure it’s going to move! I’d also do it for 7 days next time.
