Aloe (Aloe-vera)Cleopatra allegedly attributed her great beauty to Aloe Vera so it is perhaps not surprising that it is the first component of this skin cream. Quite often Aqua, translated as ‘water’, is the first component of similar formulations but with Aloe this is wholly unnecessary. Aloe provides not only its own liquidity and moisture-locking properties but, combined with this it has highly protective and repairing qualities within its gelatinous gel. This gel is Aloe’s greatest attribute as it is not only an instantly protective covering to the skin but it simultaneously speeds up the healing of any skin discrepancies, be they tired skin, sunburn, stretch marks, blemishes, grazes etc. Any dryness or wrinkles will equally be moistened, soothed and evened out. This is partly due to the gel’s ability to lock in moisture and skin repair all in one. Its immune boosting properties (polysaccharides & Aloectin B) are also an asset as this ensures that any undesirable topical bacteria is quickly overcome. All in all Aloe is a master moisturiser for a wide range of situations.
Comfrey (Symphytum officinale)The highly soothing and replenishing fresh root of comfrey is used in this Body Moisturiser for its renowned demulcent and mucilaginous properties. Both of these terms describe comfrey roots’ unique ‘gel-like’ substances that deeply recondition. These gel plant compounds are also capable of providing skin cell regeneration. This is very useful as a body moisturiser used after washing, as it naturally provides new cells once the dead skin is sloughed off through bathing. The new skin growth is quickly accelerated by the comfrey bio-chemistry and with it greater skin health and vitality. Not least, the plant cells in comfrey root bind and store water molecules as a part of the gel compounds. This is a huge bonus when applied to the skin as prolonged moisture regulation takes place over many hours.
Chickweed (Stellaria media)Known by herbalists to relieve itching and any inflammation associated with itchiness this is a good choice for a moisturiser. It naturally cools and soothes, calming any reddening acquired from either bathing or as a result of outside irritants or skin, which is naturally sensitive and prone to irritation. The chickweed used is collected and processed fresh thus retaining the highest possible bio-chemical value for this moisturiser.
Rose Geranium (Pelargonium roseum) Essential oilThis sweetly scented geranium is an essential oil distilled from its highly fragrant leaves. It is renowned for both its skin renewing and protective effects and it is has a sweetly refreshing, rose-like aroma. Known to have repairing activity in its volatile oils, it is adept at targeting the renewal of fine line damage, skin discoloration and radiance in general.
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) Essential OilStimulating, warming and reviving to circulation, rosemary is indispensable for providing a natural boost to skin and blood metabolic processes. The presence of rosemary essential oil in this formulation ensures that sluggish skin is helped and encouraged to detoxify whilst enjoying the moisturising effects of the other ingredients. Blood flow is increased and a sense of vitality is present as a result.
Its fragrance is renowned for 'lifting the spirits and yet calming the mind'. It is zesty and invigorating both in fragrance and physical effect.
