Our New Vegan Society Symbol

We are delighted to announce that we have been granted an official Vegan Society Trademark Symbol, and this includes approval for the Superfood too. We have always wished to have a Vegan symbol, since our entire range is 100 % natural, free from animal testing, animal products and animal by-products, except the three ointments, Horsechestnut& Pilewort, Marshmallow & Walnut and Plantain & Chickweed (because they contain bees wax).

Additionally, all our ingredients are non-polluting, free from GMO, are either 80% organic or wild harvested/crafted and free from any chemical colouring, preservatives or flavoring.

Our Senior Herbal Practitioner, Jill Davies, who designed all our formulas and other Herbal products, is a member of the A.M.H (The Association of Master Herbalist). By definition this association does not use or approve of animal testing and as members of this association are prohibited from using animal parts as medicine (for example Chinese Herbal Medicine does use animal parts).

Therefore, although the Vegan symbol provides us with another recognized standard of authority, our personal beliefs and ethics have always been so, regardless of any symbol or authority, and we are very proud of this as a company and as Herbalists. We have previously been unable to have a Vegan symbol, since the Vegan Society would not allocate symbols to individual products, only the entire range, which of course meant we could not have a symbol due to the bees wax in the three ointments. The Vegan Society have now changed their policy, and approached our marketing coordinator a few months ago. Many people had been contacting the Society inquiring into the Vegan status of the Superfood, and this prompted them to contact us. We were very pleased to hear about this, particularly in regard to the Superfood, since we believe Superfood would be an ideal and healthy addition to a balanced Vegan diet, or indeed anyone following a diet that included less or no meat, since it is high in energy, protein and rich in natural vitamins, minerals and phyto-nutrients.

You also may be interested to know that we sell vegetable cellulose capsules, an alternative to gelatine capsules, and we sell them at the practical and easy minimum amount of 100 capsules per bag.

Only one of our formulas, Walnut & Wormwood, will not be included under the symbol. Although it is not Herbs Hands Healing’s standpoint or philosophy, the Vegan Society has many people of different philosophical ideologies on their Council, and at this present time, some of these individuals are unhappy that the worm itself or its eggs may be harmed or killed in any way, during a parasite cleanse. The formula is actually designed to stun and disengage the worms, with the deliberate intention not to kill them while inside the human body. Dead worms in the body give off ‘aflotoxins’, and this would make the person very ill. The worms are therefore passed out alive, during a parasite cleanse. The organic cloves are also not included under the symbol, as the cloves are designed to kill the worm’s eggs before they hatch in the human body and at this present time, the Vegan Society are also undecided on this issue of the worm eggs. We would like to stress though, that this product is still 100% natural Herbal medicine and is free from animal products or by-products and is produced in exactly the same way as the other formulas and herbal products.

Although the symbol will not appear on all of our new product labels immediately, due to printing dates; the symbol will apply to all but 5 of our products, and you will be able to see the symbol next to products in our forth-coming catalogue that will show all our products with their new labels.
