How to Prepare:

  • Put one 15g tablespoon of Superfood powder into the liquidizer. (Please note that American tablespoons referred to on the tub are European dessertspoon size)

  • add the juice of one or more lemons.

  • Now add any other juice, in order to make up to a half or one pint drink (depending on your desires), using 1/2 fruit juice and 1/2 spring water (or all juice).

  • Mix for approximately 30 seconds using fork, liquidizer or simply shake sealed container.

  • Drink immediately, before the powders settle and separate!

  • Superfood can also be made up and stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Always stir superfood before drinking.

Try these juice ideas:

  • Alkaline Fruit Juices: Apple, Grape, Mango, Pear, Cranberry etc.
  • Acidic Fruit Juices: Orange, Pineapple etc.
  • Vegetable Juices: e.g. 3/4 carrot and 1/4 beetroot
  • If juices don't suit you try vegetable milks like soya, rice and oat.
  • You can also add grated ginger, cinnamon powder, rice syrup or vanilla essence for extra flavour.
  • You could also add 1 or 2 tsp of Udo's organic oils in order to add Omega 3 & 9 (essential fatty acids) to your diet. Available from Savant Distribution Ltd. FREEPOST NEA12027 Leeds, LS16 6YY or www.savant-health.com
  • For diabetics and those suffering with candida simply add water to avoid the sugars in fruits and vegetables.
  • If you are pre-making Superfood and storing it in the fridge, avoid fruit juices that can ferment i.e. organic apple juice with no preservatives.

Extra serving suggestions:

  • Super food takes on a whole new delicious taste when mixed with olive oil and pressed garlic and spread over a whole grain bread and topped with tomatoes or used to stuff celery.
  • It is also good sprinkled on a salad with an oil and vinegar dressing. Examples of two super dressings:
  • Oil Dressing: 16 ounces Organic, cold pressed olive oil, 12 large cloves garlic, fresh Rosemary, Basil, Oregano, Thyme. Put all ingredients in a blender and puree. Add Superfood to taste.
  • Vinegar Dressing: 16 ounces of organic, apple cider vinegar, 6 ounces fresh, unpeeled, chopped ginger. Add both together and let stand overnight before using.
  • Salad: Lay a bed of "Spring Mix" salad greens on a dinner plate. Top with one mound of fresh, shredded carrots and one mound of fresh, shredded beets.
  • This is the main body of the salad. You can vary the toppings each day, so you won't get bored. One day you can use tomatoes, cucumbers and celery. Another day avocado, onion and olives. Another day, sprouts and Greek olives.
  • The point is that you try to use the main ingredients and vary the toppings. Everything should be organic. After you've made the salad, sprinkle a generous amount of Super Food on top (2 tablespoons). Then put the OIL dressing on top of the Superfood. Now sprinkle some of the VINEGAR dressing on top of the whole thing, if you prefer.

Long Burning Energy Breakfast

A marathon runner gave us this recipe after finding that it gave him lots of energy which was slow to burn. This suits him particularly as he has it before he trains and runs marathons.

  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons Oat bran

  • 1 Cup of Porridge Oats

  • 1/2 cup of Organic Linseed seeds

  • Soya Milk

  • Cook all these together and then add:

  • 1 tablespoon of Superfood and add soya milk and maple syrup.

Quick SuperSoup - Dr. Schulze Style

Sometimes I get home late at night and I need a little something to eat but I don't want much. I also want something a little nurturing. This is when soup makes a good meal. Whether I must open a can of Organic Vegan Soup or make up a quick raw soup. SuperFood turns just soup into GREAT SOUP!

There are a number of organic vegan canned soups available in health food stores but lets face it, cooking and canning takes a lot of the nutrition out of it. I make a mean 3 minute raw soup but it just doesn't taste like my mom's did when it simmered all day on the stove. In either case SuperFood not only makes any soup more nutritious, but also makes it taste GREAT!

If you are just warming up a can of organic vegan soup, then once the soup is warmed up add 1 to 2 tablespoons of Superfood. Add the Superfood at the end, this protects the flavour of the Superfood and also the nutrition. You won?t believe how good this will make a can of soup taste, it also makes the soup a bit thicker and gives you a great nutritional blast.

If you are making a raw soup, do the same. I just put a carrot, a tomato, a few greens and sprouts, a chunk of beet, a clove of garlic, a chunk of ginger and a pinch of cayenne powder, whatever, into my Vita-Mix. I then pour some very hot or boiling distilled water over the raw vegetables and herbs and turn the Vita-Mix on immediately. Once it is liquefied, I add 1 to 2 tablespoons of Superfood, depending on how much soup I made. Just like the canned soup, it thickens the soup, makes it taste a lot better and gives it a nutritional kick too.

Soup is a very nice quick and nurturing food, but don't settle for just soup when you can have SuperSoup, Dr. Schulze Style.

SuperPopcorn - Dr. Schulze Style

Since I don't watch television in my house, weekend movie nights are important for me and my family. And nothing goes better with a video or DVD movie than a hot bowl of popcorn. Popcorn is a great wintertime snack food for a number of reasons. It's warm, low fat and it is high in fibre. Some old natural healers even used to call popcorn an intestinal broom similar to bran.

One of the worst things about popcorn is the fact that it is usually made by super-heating vegetable oil and then putting popcorn into this boiling oil to pop it. Then when it is popped pouring melted butter over it. Now you have the absolute worst of both worlds, rancid carcinogenic oxidized polyunsaturated oil and saturated fat in one meal. This is both cancer causing and artery clogging and also how popcorn got a bad reputation.

On the other hand popping it in one of the many Air Popping machines available today avoids both of these problems. These machines are just like hair dryers. They blow hot air over the corn kernels until they pop, no oil and no butter. If you think it's not appetizing, you're very wrong, it just needs to be doctored up a little.

My favourite way is right after popping, put it into a large bowl or square shallow pan or even a paper bag. Then I spray Paul Braggs Liquid Amino Acid solution which is a healthier version of a salt solution. Once it is damp then I sprinkle it with SuperFood which will now stick to the slightly damp popcorn. I put enough SuperFood on the popcorn until it is light green in colour. Next I sprinkle it again with Organic powdered or granulated Garlic which can be found on the spice rack of any health food store (not Garlic salt). Mix or shake it up and viola!

You now have tasty and NUTRITIOUS SuperPopcorn, Dr. Schulze style!

Animal SuperBalls - Dr. Schulze Style

No, this isn't some animal super-breeding program, but it is a way to get your pets the nutrition they need.

For centuries we have been domesticating animals and turning them into pets. We make them live very comfortable but very unnatural lives. The downside of this domestication is more disease caused mostly by less exercise and eating prepared foods instead of foraging in the wild. Most veterinarian studies today show that domesticated pets, from cats and dogs to horses, all have low blood nutrition due to their unnatural diet.

In my clinic I treated almost all of my patients' pets at one time or another. From Cats with feline AIDS and Distemper to Dogs with Intestinal Disorders to Horses with colic and Goats with the bloat, you can imagine what my patients dragged, wheeled and even trailed to my clinic.

I had many treatments for my animal patients from developing Kitty Echinacea to tubing dying colicing horses with an entire bottle of Intestinal Formula #1 and a gallon of warm water, but ALL of them got my SuperFood Balls.

Cats, Dogs and other Carnivores

For carnivore patients just mix wet food whether canned or wetted dry food with SuperFood. You can also mix SuperFood with raw or cooked meat, use whatever your animal is used to but would also be a treat. Making it a treat will help your pet eat it at first. Also at first you might use a little less SuperFood until they get used to it.

Horses, Goats and other Herbivores

Herbivores love the natural grainy, nutty taste of SuperFood. For horses and most vegetarian animals I would just mix SuperFood about 50/50 with A & M, (Alfalfa and Molasses). You don't have to worry if your pet will like this, all you have to worry about is keeping your fingers from getting bitten or chewed off when you feed them this treat, they LOVE IT! With a big horse it can get expensive but heck, if you own a horse or two, your used to it because after all, they eat like a horse.

With any animal, you will notice a big difference right away with their energy level, just like with people who take SuperFood. You will then notice a difference in their hair/fur and the increase in their general health and well-being. Remember, A SuperBall a day keeps the Veterinarian away!

Enzymes

Green barley leaves contain a multitude of enzymes. Enzymes are essential for the thousands of chemical reactions that occur throughout the body, including the production of energy at the cellular level, the facilitation of digestion, the absorption of digested nutrients, and the rebuilding and replenishing of all that the body requires for metabolism to occur.

The enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD) is a powerful antioxidant thought to slow the rate of cell destruction by providing a defense against free radicals, especially the most prolific free radical, superoxide. Superoxide free radicals are thought to be responsible for the breakdown of synovial fluid that leads to the inflammatory response in joints. Much of the current clinical research on SOD is focused on arthritis, bursitis, and gout. Low levels of SOD are also associated with cataracts and other degenerative diseases. In addition, it is believed to help the body use zinc, copper, and manganese more effectively.

As SOD is heat sensitive, it is thought to be the yardstick for measuring overall enzymatic activity. If SOD is present in a food in an active state, it can be concluded that the other enzymes in the food are also present in an active state. Enzymes are not found in processed and cooked foods.

Chlorophyll

Green barley grass also contains chlorophyll. Chlorophyll has been studied for its potential as a deodorant, in stimulating tissue growth, and in stimulating red blood cells in connection with oxygen supply. Perhaps most remarkable is the similarity between chlorophyll and the red pigment in blood. Research in the 1940s demonstrated that the two pigments react the same during breakdown.

According to an article in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute (Jan. 4, 1995), chlorophyll fed to laboratory animals reduces absorption of three dietary carcinogens: heterocyclic amines (found in cooked muscle meats), polycyclic hydrocarbons (found in smoked and barbecued foods), and aflatoxin (a mold on peanuts). The chlorophyll formed complex compounds with the carcinogens while they were still in the digestive tract, limiting their bioavailability.

Chlorophyll also removes carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, the by-products of respiration and pollution, and has been found to reduce fecal, urinary, and body odor in geriatric patients. In addition, it has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and wound-healing properties.

Phytochemicals

Phytochemicals are simply plant chemicals that are thought to be essential to health. They have been associated with the prevention and/or treatment of at least four of the leading causes of death - cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and hypertension - and with the prevention and/or treatment of other ailments, including neural tube defects, osteoporosis, abnormal bowel function, and arthritis, as well as numerous chronic conditions.

The Value of Barley Grass

Research has found that green barley extract has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity, immune system support and cholesterol-lowering effects.

Alkalinity

Green barley grass has a high alkalizing effect, which helps keep the ratio between acidity and alkalinity in our body fluids balanced. Our cells cannot adequately function if the pH (which measures acidity and alkalinity) is not in a narrow range. Most processed foods are acidic, and when we consume too many of them, the acidity-alkalinity balance is upset.

Green barley grass contains buffer minerals such as sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Buffer minerals neutralize acidic materials and can help maintain a healthy acidity-alkalinity balance.

Antioxidants

Green barley grass also contains unique and powerful plant antioxidants, including lutonarin (7-O-GIO) and saponarin (7-O-GIV). According to scientists, lutonarin is the superior antioxidant. Antioxidants protect cells from free-radical damage.
