Parkinson's & Alzheimer's Disease

Introduction:

Both these diseases affect the nervous system and both are potentially degenerative. In Parkinson's disease neurotransmitters fail to transmit messages, affecting motor function. It is a common, chronic degenerative disease of the central nervous system that alters cognition and mood. In Alzheimer's disease dementia and senility gradually take over the personality of the sufferer leading to poor memory and disorientation.

One theory behind Alzheimer's disease is that the brain attacks itself in an over active and misguided immune response. Avoid mercury dental fillings, aluminum, pesticides, and other modern processing agents which are added to our food as this may contribute to the problem.

Nutritional Advice:

Foods which will harm the nervous system e.g. stimulants like coffee, tea and sugar must be avoided. Malnutrition is felt to be a large factor in Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. So a wholesome diet is vital. See life stages and the elderly for some food suggestions.

Nerve support foods such as soaked oats, non-active yeast and spirulina will be important. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables which are vitally rich in anti-oxidants

Natural Healing:

Relaxation methods together with significant exercise, should be pursued.

Use deep body work, reflexology and massage.

Persistent hydrotherapy can be helpful according to the individual.

Supervised cleanses for the kidneys, liver and colon with the use of juices and organic food will be vital as clearing the liver and colon helps the brain function more effectively; many health workers feels that liver toxicity underpins both these conditions.

Seek advice and support from a nutritionalist or herbal practitioner for this.

Herb Quality:

A large proportion of our herbs are grown in English soils, harvested using bio-chemistry analysis and many but not always, processed fresh, which heightens their remedial properties. The majority are grown organically and or sustainably wild-crafted. All manufacturing is carried out using licensed good manufacturing practice.

DO NOT MIX HERBAL MEDICINE AND GP PRESCRIBED MEDICATION WITHOUT THE PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR GP OR PRACTIONER
