Anemia is due to lack of red blood cells or their hemoglobin content. It is not a disease, more of a symptom of other illness. Low levels of hemoglobin in the blood leads to lack of oxygen and thence to lethargy, pallor, breathlessness and poor immunity. The diagnosis of anemia is influenced by variables such as gender, pregnancy and others.
Poor digestion is often a basic cause of anemia and all efforts to maximize digestion will be vital. Other causes may be: pregnancy, excessive menstruation, nutritional deficiency specifically vitamin B deficiency, and other internal blood loss.
Nutritional Advice:
Consume foods rich in iron and vitamin C as these provide and assist further absorption of iron from food. These include blackcurrants, apricots, grapes, beetroot, red kidney beans, watercress, and carrots. Black-strap molasses are phenomenally high in iron and can be eaten by the tablespoon! Cut out tea and coffee as they are very disruptive to iron absorption.
Herb Quality:
A large proportion of our herbs are grown in English soils, harvested using bio-chemistry analysis and many but not always, processed fresh, which heightens their remedial properties. The majority are grown organically and or sustainably wild-crafted. All manufacturing is carried out using licensed good manufacturing practice.
