Acne

Introduction:

Acne is an inflammatory disease of the sebaceous follicles of the skin, Common to adolescence for some it carries on into adulthood. These skin types are often hereditary. Often predisposed to androgen-oestrogen imbalances, vitamin deficiency, diet, attention to bacterial overload. Overall, those prone to acne will need to investigate a number of possible causes where areas are unbalanced. The most simple would be to clear the skin of 'debris' and therefore alleviate oily skin residues mixing with a dirty blood stream. Candida, adrenal exhaustion, and low thyroid conditions can also be a cause of acne, especially acne that persists late into adult life.

Nutritional Advice:

Avoid sugar, coffee, tea, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, junk food and food which is devoid of freshness and variety. Drink herbal teas instead of coffee or tea and drink plenty of water. Eat plenty of fresh fruit and first grade olive oil instead of other oils.

Specific allergies may also be present and these may need to be identified and excluded.

For acne associated with hormone imbalances, the daily use of evening primrose oil (Mega GLA) will help balance the prostaglandin's.

Natural Healing:

Look at bowel and liver cleansing. Never scrub the facial (etc) skin too hard, yet constantly keep it clean and oil free. Avoid contact with chemicals and the use of oil cosmetics.

Exercise daily, power walking, swimming etc. to flush any toxins through and out the bloodstream.

Herb Quality:

A large proportion of our herbs are grown in English soils, harvested using bio-chemistry analysis and many but not always, processed fresh, which heightens their remedial properties. The majority are grown organically and or sustainably wild-crafted. All manufacturing is carried out using licensed good manufacturing practice.
